Professional Experience
- Frontend Engineer II — Amazon Web Services (3 roles) (Seattle, WA)
- Codex (internal): Improved, fixed, and supported Amazon's internal code review and code browsing
sites for 5 years. Delivered new features including UX design, prototyping, implementation, and iteration
based on customer feedback (e.g. new code review dashboard, multi dry run build, artifact browser). Resolved
many customer experience issues by self-initiating fixes such as unwanted email reduction, a11y colors,
introducing comment filtering, and correcting code inter-diff. Additionally, sunsetted a legacy service,
while
preserving web links (Devcentral). Helped shape team priorities by managing the product backlog and
contributing to product direction.
- QuickSight: Implemented features for QuickSight, Amazon's BI analytics product for ~4 years. This
included KPI and geospatial charts, and an anomaly exploration page. Also led a multi-team effort to upgrade
from React 13 to 16 and drove fixing of many customer experience issues.
- Meetings (internal): Designed, implemented, and supported a new internal website, Amazon Meetings
for ~1.5 years. The site filled a gap in searching for meeting times with appropriate conference rooms.
- Technical Support Engineer — Amazon Web Services (Seattle, WA): Provided deep
technical support for a wide array of services (compute, storage, DNS, content delivery, load balancing, coding)
for a range of customer backgrounds for ~2 years. This transitioned into ~1 year of development on internally
used
web-based tools, dashboards, and scripts.
- Tutor and office temp — (various) (Seattle, WA)
- Education Volunteer — US Peace Corps (Uganda, Africa): Supported elementary school
student teachers with classroom observation and weekend classes for 1 year. For the remaining 1.5 years I
funded,
sourced, and installed a school computer lab and created a basic computer skills curriculum, which I taught to
teachers, students, and community members.
